10 Days Tanzania Lodge Safari with a visit to a local school

Day
1. Arrive Kilimanjaro Airport and you will be met and transferred arrive
Serena Mountain Village overnight.
Day 2. Mount Meru Village
In a small village on the slopes of Mt. Meru we visit the local school.
Teachers and
children share their daily activities, introduce your kids to their
Tanzanian pen
pals and invite them to join in a game. We also enjoy lunch in a
magnificent setting
at the home of one of your Tanzanian guides. In the afternoon we go on a
forest walk
to search for black and white Colobus monkeys and other wildlife. B, L,

Days 3 - 4. Arusha / Tarangire National Park - Wildlife Viewing, Swimming
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart Arusha for scenic Tarangire
National Park,
Tanzania's fourth largest. Here you'll find a geologic landscape as
diverse as the
wildlife, with nine distinct vegetation zones ranging from grassland to
woodland, and deep gully vegetation to scattered rocky hilltops. See the
distinctive ancient
baobab trees and the dramatic vistas of the Tarangire River valley. The
river attracts an abundance of wildlife, from elephants, lions, cheetahs
and buffaloes to a variety of colorful birds. B, L,D

Days 5-6. Ngorongoro Crater - Wildlife Viewing, Nature Hike
This morning we depart for the Ngorongoro Highlands. We arrive at Gibbs
Farm, a
beautiful old coffee farm for a late lunch. This afternoon we'll walk to
a scenic
waterfall just a short way from the lodge. This afternoon we'll walk in
the private
grounds of the farm bordering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area looking
for animal
prints.
We then move on to Ngorongoro Crater, a collapsed volcano that has been
home to
hundreds of species of non-migratory animals for thousands of years.
Descending
2,000 feet, we'll drive to the crater floor to observe these animals as
they hunt
their prey, eat, play and groom. In this 10 mile wide mini-universe, we
may see
buffaloes, lions, rhinos, cheetahs, flamingoes, jackals, hippos,
ostriches,
wildebeests and many more animals. B, L, D

Days 7-8. Serengeti National Park - Maasai Cultural Exchange, Wildlife
Viewing
Depart Ngorongoro Crater this morning and head for the Serengeti,
stopping en route
to be welcomed into a Maasai boma, where we will gain a glimpse into
traditional
Maasai culture and arts.
For the next day and a half we experience the incredible world of the
Serengeti -
6,000 square miles of endless plains, rock outcroppings, brilliant blue
skies and
breathtaking sunsets. We'll stay in walk-in canvas tents at our own
private Classic
Camp. We'll enjoy great food, comfortable accommodations and the
stunning beauty of
the heart of pristine African wilderness.
Each day, game drives open up new landscapes and opportunities to see
leopards,
lions, cheetahs, zebras, gazelles, impalas, antelopes, giraffes,
warthogs,
ostriches, more than 500 species of birds and much more. You can also
sign up for an
optional sunrise hot air balloon flight over the Serengeti Plains. B, L,

Days 9-10 Serengeti National Park / Return Home
After a final game drive in the Serengeti, we fly back to Arusha for a
farewell
lunch. While in Arusha we'll enjoy time to shop or relax by the pool
before our
evening flight home. B, L
EXTENDED YOUR SAFARI
Days 10-11 Zanzibar: The Spice Island / Return Home
Our exploration of Zanzibar begins in Stone Town, Zanzibar's historic
city. Enjoy
the delicate beauty of the ornate architecture embellishing the doorways
and
balconies of every street, and enjoy an intriguing tour of the cottage
spice
industries. Our stay concludes with three nights at an oceanfront resort
overlooking
the Indian Ocean, where we can scuba dive, snorkel, swim or just relax
on the white
sand beaches. Includes all Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, and 4 Dinners
