9 Days Tanzania Family Safari

Days 1 - Arusha, Tanzania
Arrive Kilimanjaro Airport and you will be met and transferred arrive Serena Mountain Village overnight.

Day 2 - Arusha/Lake Manyara
Drive to Lake Manyara National Park  famous for its tree-climbing lions, elephants,
hippos, and giraffes and set out on our first wildlife safari.

Day 3 - Lake Manyara
On morning and afternoon game drives, watch wildlife interact along the shores of
Lake Manyara. After lunch, go on an optional village walk or a mountain biking

Day 4 - Serengeti
Journey into the Serengeti and stop to visit a Maasai village in the Ngorongoro
hills. En route to the lodge this afternoon, look for zebras and lion prides.

Day 5 - Serengeti
Embark on a morning game drive, or view the plains game from above on an optional
hot-air balloon safari. Enjoy a talk by a wildlife researcher during lunch, and then
head out on an afternoon safari. (B, L, D)

Day 6 - Serengeti/Olduvai Gorge
Travel east to Olduvai Gorge where Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the remains of
Homo habilis, regarded as one of the earliest humans. Continue to our lodge, perched on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.  Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 7 - Ngorongoro Crater
Descend 2,000 feet to the floor of the crater where volcanic slopes shelter almost
30,000 animals. We may see elephants, rhinos, buffalo, cheetahs, lions, hyenas,
hippos, and wildebeests here. Then view the vast crater from above on a hike along
the rim. Tonight, meet a local Maasai elder and make beaded jewelry with one of his

Day 8 - Ngorongoro Crater/Arusha
Spend the morning on a game drive in the crater. After lunch at the lodge, depart
for Arusha. Celebrate your Tanzanian safari adventure at a festive farewell dinner.

Days 9- Arusha/Depart
Choose one of three activities  a tour of a coffee farm, a canoe safari in Arusha
National Park. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure before taking an evening flight home, arriving the next day. (B)

Days 9-12 Zanzibar: The Spice Island / Return Home
Our exploration of Zanzibar begins in Stone Town, Zanzibar's historic city. Enjoy
the delicate beauty of the ornate architecture embellishing the doorways and
balconies of every street, and enjoy an intriguing tour of the cottage spice
industries. Our stay concludes with three nights at an oceanfront resort overlooking
the Indian Ocean, where we can scuba dive, snorkel, swim with dolphins or just relax on the white sand beaches.

Day 1 Arusha
Arrive Arusha, Tanzania and your family Africa tour begins with departure from
Kilimanjaro International Airport. A transfer is included from Kilimanjaro
International Airport to Arumeru River Lodge – get a good night’s rest! An
African safari is truly one of the world’s greatest adventures – and it begins
with the departure of your family's Africa tour in the morning.

Day 2 Arusha
A choice of adventures awaits you today! Join an experienced local guide on a
game drive in Arusha National Park to look for gentle giraffes, boisterous
baboons, colorful flamingoes and big buffalo.  Back at the lodge for  dinner

Day 3 Tarangire National Park
Your family's Africa tour continues as you head to Tarangire National Park
today, immortalized by many movies about Africa. Take a look at the classic
African savannah studded with baobob trees and the wildlife-rich plains of the
Serengeti. Hop aboard our open-topped safari vehicles for a game drive. Look
for big cats lounging under baobab trees or elephants cooling off at a watering
hole. Join the Maasai in a tribal dance this evening and have dinner in a

Day 4 Tarangire National Park
This safari and Africa tour ensures an up-close look at daily life in the
African bush . Add afternoon  gamedrives where you see wildlife during the day, and today's

Day 5 Ngorongoro Highlands
Discover what life is like for the Maasai when your Africa tour takes you to
visit an authentic Maasai boma. Enjoy a game drive into Lake Manyara National Park en route to Kiratu; look for baboons, pink flamingos and great birds of prey from your safari vehicle! Your accommodations for the next two nights are at an authentic farmhouse on a
500-acre coffee plantation, facing the Oldeani Volcano. (B,L,D)

Day 6 Ngorongoro Highlands
See how coffee is picked and processed at a local coffee plantation. Spend the
remainder of the day at the lodge where you'll be staying, with ample time to

Day 7 Serengeti National Park
One of the best places in Africa to spot the Big Five – elephants, leopards,
lions, buffalo and the rare black rhinoceros – ancient Ngorongoro Crater is
home to almost every species in Africa, except the giraffe who can't negotiate
the steep incline down. A game drive and picnic lunch on the crater floor offer
ample opportunities to spot lions, cheetahs, hippos and lots of birds. While
the crater has been cradling Africa's wildlife for thousands of years, nearby
Olduvai Gorge in the Great Rift Valley is thought to be the home of mankind's
earliest "people." See the place where Louis and Mary Leakey found the
fossilized remains of one of the first humans to walk upright and continue on
to an exclusive tented camp – reserved just for you and your fellow travelers!
Learn some Swahili tonight around the campfire, mastering such words as "jambo"
(hello), "kwa heri" (goodbye), "simba" (lion) and "ninafurahia" (I am having a

Day 8 Serengeti National Park
optional rise early for a hot air balloon ride at dawn over the vast Serengeti as
animals, large and small, start a new day in the African bush. or After breakfast proceed to a morning game drive return to the lodge for tea break. This afternoon's game drive with a local guide offers up-close encounters with zebras, hyenas, elephants, jackals and more. Day 9 Serengeti National Park
Make tracks for the western Serengeti, a great place to see the wildlife of the
region. Morning and afternoon game drives showcase Africa untamed, as you view
lions, giraffes and zebras, along with the creatures said to have been put
together with spare parts, the African wildebeest. Spend two nights in a tented

Day 10 Serengeti National Park
Your riverfront lodge in the western Serengeti enables you to savor the African
landscape as you wish. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the western
corridor of Serengeti National Park. Here you can often see wildebeest and
large numbers of lions, and cheetahs, as well as herds of giraffe and zebra – a
most unforgettable spectacle of Africa's circle of life. Equally impressive are
Africa's magical sunsets, which out here are celebrated at traditional
"sundowners." Enjoy your final night on safari at a sundowner at your lodge,

Day 11 Return Home
Your amazing Africa tour concludes after a flight back to the city of Arusha.
Flights departing Africa leave late tonight; we have reserved a day room for
you at the Arumeru River Lodge so that you can repack and relax as you wish. A
transfer is included from Arumeru River Lodge to Kilimanjaro International

Day 1 - Arusha, Arusha Mountain Village. BB
Arrive to a friendly rep who'll transfer you to this oasis of serenity for a good
night's sleep.

Day 2 - Lake Manyara National Park, Serena Lodge. FB
A Serena breakfast will satisfy appetites of every size to prepare you for the drive
north with your private guide and vehicle. Arriving in time to lunch at Lake Manyara
Serena Lodge, your afternoon will kick off with a game drive in Lake Manyara
National Park. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 - Lake Manyara National Park, Serena Lodge. FB
Today, thrilling game drives take guests around the wildlife-teeming shores of Lake
Manyara for breathtaking views of fabulous flamingos and magnificent pelicans.

Day 4 - Ngorongoro Conservancy, Serena Lodge. FB
After breakfast, a drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area will get you there in time
for lunch. Freshen up at the lodge before taking it easy or exploring this ‘eighth
wonder of the world'. In the afternoon, you descend into the famous Ngorongoro
Crater. You'll enjoy superb game viewing and a half-day crater tour before heading
back to the Lodge. Enjoy dinner in the wilderness and another night in this lost
world.

Day 5 - Serengeti National Park, Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp. FB
After breakfast, you will head toward the Serengeti National Park, stopping on route
to visit the famous Olduvai Gorge (world-famous hominid fossil site). Proceed to
Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp, located at the epicenter of the Serengeti within easy reach
of the prime wildlife theatres.

Day 6 - Serengeti National Park, Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp. FB
Enjoy a full day in the Serengeti eco-system, exploring the famous Serengeti Plains.
Take a picnic lunch and spend the whole day in search of the wildlife, or go back to
your lodge for lunch, going out again in the cool of the afternoon. Back at the
tented camp for a lantern-lit bush supper.

Day 7 to 13 - Zanzibar, Ocean Paradise Resort - Superior Room. HB
Prepare for a transfer to paradise after your repast. Upon arriving in Zanzibar
you'll be met and transferred to the Ocean Paradise Resort. Each day, there is
something different to keep you entertained. From traditional African dancers,
acrobats and the Resort's resident band, to big screen sports broadcasts and sports
competitions. The Guest Relations department is on hand to look after your
requirements and help you select the best tours to get the most out of your Zanzibar
holiday.

Day 14 - Departure
Transfer to the airport to connect with your onward flight.
