Days Direct Safari to Mt. Kenya (Sirimon)
Day 1: Nairobi/Sirimon/Old Moses Camp 3-4 hrs, 9km, 860m ascent
Leave Nairobi at 8 am to Nanyuki town for lunch, taking about 4 hours.
Proceed to Sirimon Gate, 1 hr, 2440m. From the gate follow the track as
it winds uphill though the forest which becomes heath land after about 3
hrs. About 3 hours from the gate the track veers right to Old Moses
Camp, 3300m for dinner and overnight, L, D
Day 2: Old Moses Camp/Shipton Camp 6-7hrs, 14km, 900m ascent
After breakfast, follow the track uphill, forking left at the junction.
After one hour from Old Moses Camp, the track crosses Ontulili River. Go
right contouring through the Moorland and crossing Liki North and
continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic
views up the valley towards the main peaks. Dinner and overnight at
Shipton Camp, 4200m, B,L,D
Day 3: Shipton Camp/Point Lenana/Old Moses Camp 9-10hrs, 21km
Leave at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing
visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving point Lenana at 6:30am,
taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend down to Shipton Camp,
2hrs, for breakfast and further, 4hrs, down to Old Moses Camp for dinner
and overnight, B,L,D
Day 4: Old Moses Camp/Sirimon/Nairobi 2-3hrs, 9km
After breakfast, walk down through the rainforest for 2 hours to connect
with your transport vehicle back to Nairobi, B, L
Mt. Kenya Climbing - Sirimon out Chogoria (5 Days/4 nights)
Day
1. Nairobi/Nanyuki
Depart Nairobi mid morning for Nanyuki arriving in time for lunch. The
afternoon is spent in this area for acclimatization. Dinner and overnight
in a budget hotel.
Day
2. Old Moses Camp
After breakfast, drive to Sirimon Park Gate. After chek-in start hiking
through the Rain Forest for 9 km to Old Moses camp (3300m). Dinner and
overnight.
Day
3. Shipton Camp
Depart Old Moses Camp at 7:30 am via Mackinders Valley to Shipton Camp
(4200m). The distance takes 6 to 7 hrs. Dinner and overnight.
Day
4.Point Lenana- Chogoria
Early morning departure (3:00 am) to the summit, a walk that takes 3 hrs
to point Lenana (4985m) arriving at 6:30 in the morning. After sunrise,
descend to Mintos Hut for full breakfast and later proceed down through
the Gorges valley to Chogoria Bandas and campsite. Dinner and overnight.
Day
5. Chogoria/Nairobi
After breakfast, set on morning journey to Chogoria (32km). 4WD vehicles
are provided but during bad weather, climbers may have to walk some disance
as vehicles may not reach the Bandas. From Chogoria transport is provided
back to Nairobi, arriving late afternoon
Mount Kenya Climb Sirmon Out Naro Moru
DAY
1: Departure from Nairobi is at 0930 hrs to Nanyuki for dinner and
overnight.
DAY 2: After breakfast vehicle transfer to Sirimon gate and hike
to Old Moses camp (3300m) for overnight. (6 to 8 hrs hike).
DAY 3: Hike Shimpton's camp (4200m) for overnight (5 to 7 hrs hike)
DAY 4: Attempt on point Lenana at 0300 hrs and descend leisurely
to Met Station for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5: Descend the mountain to Naro Moru town with vehicle transfer
back to Nairobi.

Day Nairobi

Pick up from airport
to Nairobi Hotel.
Day 2
Nairobi- Chogoria
(2800m)
After breakfast we depart Nairobi from the hotel and head to Chogoria town
arriving in time for lunch at the Transit hotel. The journey takes 3 to 3.5
hours. Afternoon will be spent walking around the town for acclimatization.
Dinner and overnight at the Transit Hotel.
Day 3.
Chogoria - Meru Mount Kenya Lodge (Bandas) (3300m)
After breakfast we take 4x4 and drive up to the edge of the bamboo forest
where we start our trekking through the dense bamboo forest for distance of
10 km up to the Bandas for lunch. Afternoon will be spent walking around the
lodge with a view of beautiful sceneries. Dinner and overnight at the
Bandas.(accommodation at Bandas is of single beds.hot shower and bon fire
self catering bandas)
Day 4.
Mount Kenya lodge via lake Ellis (3500m)
After breakfast and sorting of porter loads we set off up the mountain at a
nice and easy pace . A slightly longer walk via Lake Ellis gives scenic
views of Mugi, Ithunguni and the Giants BilliardsTable, whilst if we follow
the river near roadhead, upstream for about 3 km, the foreground scenery and
flora is particularly beautiful. Lunch by the stream banks then it's time to
cut up the left hand hillside to our camp at about 3,600m, well away from
any of the more "touristy" areas.

Day 5. Lake Elliis
to Lake Michealson. (4000m)

From our campsite,
we continue to move up through the moorland zone. As this area of the
mountain is still off the beaten track, there are no paths to follow,
and on each trip we vary the area we walk across. After about an hour,
traverse left and join a ridge (slight path to follow) and join the
normal Chogoria route to Minto's Hut after about 4 hour walking. Lunch
at a small stream crossing then 45 min on to a camp near Minto's Hut and
next to one of the tarns. Very short afternoon walk over to superb views
across to "The Temple" and down to Lake Michaelson.

Day 6: Mintos to
Austrian hut (4670m)

Today we begin our
trek ascending up along the foot of huge rock walls. From the top we
will have an excellent view of Mt. Kenya. After ascending for a couple
of hours we reach Tooth Col. From here we traverse until we reach the
Austrian Hut.
Day 7 Austrian Hut to summit (4985m)
Up early (about 05:00Hrs route to the Austrian Hut and a further 45 minutes
onwards to Pt Lenana. for sunrise and descend to shipton camp for breakfast
before descending further to Old Moses Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 8. Nairobi.

Walk Leisurely to Park Gate and connect with the transfer vehicle to
Nanyuki. After lunch drive to Nairobi and arrive late in the evening.
