KENYA TANZANIA SAFARIS COMBINED SAFARI IN EAST AFRICA
 
DAY 1.NAIROBI
Connect in Amsterdam to the flight to Nairobi where you arrive in the evening. You
will be met and transferred to a deluxe hotel. Overnight at the Norfolk Hotel.
 
DAY 2. NAIROBI / AMBOSELI NATIONAL GAME RESERVE- Tortilis Camp
A very early transfer to a local airport for the light aircraft flight to Tortilis
Camp in Amboseli.
 
Amboseli attracts large numbers of game, drawn to natural springs fed from Mount
Kilimanjaro: plains game, elephant, buffalo, lion, cheetah and leopard, as well as
many varieties of bird life.
 
Tortilis Camp, named after the nearby Acacia Tortilis trees, sits on the southern
edge of the park, overlooking a natural water hole. Guests are accommodated in
spacious sleeping tents with en suite bathrooms. A large, semicircular veranda
offers unique views of Kilimanjaro in all its moods; at night, the nocturnal sights
and sounds of the African bush fill the camp. (B, L, D)
 
DAY 3. AMBOSELI NATIONAL GAME RESERVE-Tortilis Camp
A full day on safari in Amboseli. Game drives and game walks are offered. There is
also a swimming pool for those wishing to remain in camp and simply relax under the
African sun. Enjoy sundowners in the hills behind camp. (B, L, D)
 
DAY 4. AMBOSELI / LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK - Lake Manyara Tree Lodge
Morning drive to Namanga, a town situated on the border of Kenya and Tanzania. Here
you will be met and transferred to Arusha in time to connect with the scheduled
light aircraft flight to Lake Manyara. You will be met and transferred to lodge,
about a 21/2 - hour game drive away.
 
Sheltered below the walls of the Great Rift Valley in the shade of an ancient
mahogany forest where Ernest Hemingway once hunted, is Lake Manyara Tree Lodge.
Guests are accommodated in 10 deluxe tree houses, complete with en suite facilities
and an outdoor shower. A dining boma and open-air interactive kitchen overlook this
vast African landscape. Enjoy an afternoon game activity. (B, L, D)
 
DAY 6 LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK - Lake Manyara Tree Lodge
Full day on safari in Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy the kaleidoscope of
Manyara flora and fauna either on foot or in the lodge’s 4 X 4’s. Here you might
catch a glimpse of Manyara’s remarkable tree-climbing lions. Elephant, lion,
leopard, buffalo, giraffe are but a few of the many big game species to be found,
and the area is renowned for its myriad bird life. (B, L, D)
 
DAY 7 LAKE MANYARA / SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK - Grumeti Camp or Klein’s Camp
An early departure to the airstrip for the scheduled light aircraft flight to the
Serengeti.
 
You may choose either Grumeti Camp located in the western corridor of the Serengeti
corridor or Klein’s Camp located in the north-eastern Serengeti. These upscale
properties are small, ensuring a high level of service in an uncrowded environment.
Grumeti Camp, located in the seclusion of a remote valley in the western corridor of
the Serengeti overlooks a branch of the Grumeti River where wildebeest plunge
through the waters during the annual migration. Klein’s Camp is located just outside
the park boundary in a private concession in the north-eastern Serengeti. Hidden
among the bush-clad hills and commanding breathtaking views of the valleys along
migratory routes of wildebeest and zebra, Klein’s Camp consists of only 8 cottages
of local rock and thatch. Since Klein’s Camp is on a private concession, guests may
enjoy day and night safaris and interpretive bush walks.
 
Depending upon the season and game movements, guests may also experience the
legendary 'Great Migration', which traverses different areas of the park during its
never ending search for food and water.

DAYS 8 & 9 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK - Grumeti Camp or Klein’s Camp
Two more days on safari exploring the Serengeti in customized 4-wheel drive safari
Vehicles, accompanied by your licensed guide. An optional balloon safari over the plains of the Serengeti can be arranged (B, L, D)
 
DAY 10 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK / NGORONGORO CRATER - Ngorongoro Crater Lodge
After a short flight, transfer by road to the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge located on the
crater rim. This lodge, inspired by ancient African architecture, forms three
intimate villages a fusion of earth and baroque luxury integrated into the
dramatic rim of the crater.
 
Enjoy a game drive in this volcanic caldera, which many claim to be the most
picturesque setting in Africa. Ngorongoro is a microcosm of Africa, replete with big
game, including the beleaguered black rhino. It is also home to the majestic Maasai
tribe who, in their colorful dress, can be seen tending their herds throughout the

Day 11 NGORONGORO CRATER - Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

This morning fly to Lake Manyara airstrip and continue to your lodge, set in a tree
house nestled in boughs of mahogany trees inside Lake Manyara National Park.
Activities here include game drives with your guide, exceptional bird watching in
the forest where more than 387 different bird species live, and relaxing lakeshore

Day 4 Manyara - Ngorongoro Crater
After a morning game drive, continue to Gibb's Farm on the Crater Highlands for
lunch and perhaps a stroll to a waterfall before arriving at Ngorongoro Crater. (B L

Day 5 Ngorongoro Crater
Today track and photograph some of the finest black-maned lion in Africa, as well as
a multitude of other animals, stopping midday for a picnic lunch on the Crater

Days 6-7 Ngorongoro Crater - Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, fly to the Serengeti where, from your luxury tented camp, you spend

Day 8 Serengeti National Park - Arusha - Nairobi

Day 9 Nairobi - Samburu Game Reserve
Fly to the Samburu Game Reserve in northern Kenya. On arrival,

Day 10 Samburu Game Reserve
Spend the day exploring semi-desert Samburu, searching for species unique to
Northern Kenya such as reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali
ostrich, and, with luck, the elusive leopard. (B L D)
 
Day 11 Samburu - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Adventure leads to the Masai Mara, the Kenyan portion of the Greater Serengeti
ecosystem, where game viewing is scheduled for this afternoon. (B L D)
 
Days 12-13 Masai Mara Game Reserve
The Mara contains Kenya's richest concentrations of wildlife, supplemented for
several months of the year by migrant herds. On morning and afternoon game drives,
view migrating herbivores and their predators: lion, cheetah and leopard. Also visit
a Maasai village and perhaps choose an optional hot-air ballooning excursion or

Day 14 Masai Mara - Nairobi

Day 1 Nairobi, Kenya
Arrive in  the Kenya capital of Nairobi. Known as “The Green City in the Sun”, Nairobi is a cosmopolitan city that hasn’t lost its authentic African flavor. This evening, relax at the stylish Norfolk Hotel. Brimming with the charm of the British colonial era, you will delight in this hotel's rich history and luxurious accommodations.
 
Day 2: Nairobi
Travel this morning to Karen, a suburb on the outskirts of the city, where you will
visit the farmhouse of “Out of Africa” author Karen Blixen. You then get your first
glimpse of the local wildlife when you have an opportunity to feed endangered
Rothschild giraffes from a raised platform at the Rothschild Giraffe Sanctuary. With
their sloping necks and black tongues just inches away, this is an experience you
will never forget! An unforgettable experience is in store for you this afternoon as
you visit the students at Tenderfeet Education Center. Supported by the Collette
Foundation, Tenderfeet schools orphans and high risk children in Kibera. This
evening, enjoy a mouth-watering dining experience at the famous Carnivore

Day 3: Nairobi - Amboseli National Park
Depart Nairobi for beautiful Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is famous for its open
plains that are home to incredible wildlife including lions and elephants. On top of
it all is the breathtaking snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro which dominates the
landscape. Enjoy a game drive through this rugged park en route to your lodge.(BLD)
 
Day 4: Amboseli National Park
Rise early to sneak a peak at the animals during a morning game drive. With any luck
you will see the “Big 5” that Kenya is known for: lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard,
and rhino. Return to your hotel to relax a bit before returning to the park for an
afternoon game drive and another opportunity for spectacular sightings. (BLD)
 
Day 5: Amboseli - Arusha - Tarangire, Tanzania
Say goodbye to Amboseli National Park this morning and travel to the East African
country of Tanzania. You will cross the Tanzanian border at Namanga and continue
into Tarangire National Park, an unspoiled paradise known for its distinctive Boabab

 Day 6: Tarangire - Ngorongoro Crater
Your destination today is Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most fascinating spots in
all of East Africa. Sprawling across 265 square kilometers, Ngorongoro Crater is the
largest intact caldera in the world. Vast expanses of gray-green earth extend as far
as the eye can see, interrupted only by herds of wild animals. In fact, this UNESCO
World Heritage Site is said to host over 20,000 animals at any given time. (BLD)
 
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater National Park
Descend into the crater for a full day of discovery. With the highest concentration
of wildlife in East Africa, Ngorongoro is home to scores of zebra, wildebeest, and
gazelles. You may even spot the endangered black rhino! In the middle of your
safari, pause for a relaxed picnic lunch while surrounded by the beauty of the park.
This afternoon you will have a unique opportunity to visit a Masai village to learn

Day 8: Ngorongoro - Serengeti
An unforgettable day is in store for you today in the most famous of game parks: The
Serengeti. The name “Serengeti” comes from the Masai word for “endless plains.”
You’ll see the beauty of the landscape unfold around you as you travel to your
lodge. Along the way enjoy a stop at Ol Duvai Gorge, also known as the Cradle of
Mankind. This stunning landform is said to be one of the most important pre-historic
sites in the world and has been instrumental in theories of human evolution. Enjoy a

Day 9: Serengeti
Today you will enjoy a full day of sightseeing in the Serengeti with morning and

Day 10: Serengeti - Masai Mara, Kenya
Cross the border back into Kenya and travel to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The
Masai Mara is an extension of the great Serengeti Plain and is generally thought to
be the most magnificent game viewing spot in all of Kenya. Here you are likely to
see lions, giraffes, zebras, elephants, and other wildlife simply existing in their
natural habitat. Your afternoon game drive is sure to be a highlight, followed by a
night of relaxation in a luxurious tented camp. Your tent will provide all the

Day 11: Masai Mara
Experience the magic of the Masai Mara during a full day of activities. Journey
through the open plains of the Masai Mara on morning and afternoon game drives in

Day 12: Masai Mara
An optional hot air balloon ride, giving you a birds-eye-view of the wide open
plains, is available this morning. Then, enjoy both morning and afternoon game
drives. Finally, enjoy a nature walk through the wilderness guided by a local Masai
warrior and a visit to a local Masai village. This evening you will be treated to a

Day 14: Nakuru - Nanyuki
Travel today to the Equator and the world-famous Mt. Kenya Safari Club. Seated in

William Holden. You’ll feel like you’re living the life of the rich and famous as
you lounge by the pool, wander the grounds, and enjoy afternoon tea in the Zebra
